A new partnership aims to cut red tape and speed up motor insurance services through a government-linked digital platform.
The Deal at a Glance
Dubai Insurance has joined forces with SlashData, a UAE-based government technology firm, to overhaul how motor insurance policies are issued and verified. The collaboration centers on Wtheeq, a digital platform designed to automate policy creation, enable real-time data verification, and ensure compliance with local regulations. The move is expected to reduce administrative drag for insurers and deliver a faster, more seamless experience for drivers.
What Wtheeq Actually Does
Wtheeq isn’t just another insurance app. It’s a secure data-exchange platform developed in partnership with the Integrated Transport Centre and Abu Dhabi Police, meaning it plugs directly into the UAE’s broader mobility ecosystem. For motor insurance, that translates into instant verification of vehicle and driver data, automated policy issuance, and a direct line to government databases—eliminating the need for paper forms or manual checks.
The platform also supports the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Program, a nationwide push to make public services fully digital, user-centric, and connected. By integrating insurance workflows with government systems, Wtheeq helps turn a traditionally paperwork-heavy process into a few clicks.
Why This Matters for Insurers and Customers
Thamer Alfallaj, CEO of SlashData, explained the rationale behind the partnership:
“As demand for digital services continues to grow across the insurance sector, the ability to deliver those services efficiently and at scale is becoming increasingly important. Through Wtheeq, we help automate and streamline critical insurance processes, reducing administrative workloads and enabling teams to focus on customers, risk management, and business growth.”
For Dubai Insurance, the move is part of a broader digital transformation strategy. CEO Abdellatif Abuqurah emphasized that the insurer is looking to simplify every touchpoint:
“Digital innovation is at the heart of Dubai Insurance’s strategy. We continuously seek partnerships that enhance customer experience, simplify processes, and strengthen our operational capabilities. By connecting our systems directly with key government platforms and enabling real-time policy issuance, we are creating a more efficient and customer-focused insurance journey.”
The result, in practical terms: fewer delays when buying or renewing a policy, less back-and-forth between insurers and authorities, and a smoother claims process when data is already verified.
The Bigger Picture: Insurtech on the Rise
This deal is a signal of a wider shift. Insurers across the Gulf are racing to adopt digital platforms that cut costs and improve customer satisfaction. Manual underwriting and paper-based documentation are slowly being replaced by APIs, blockchain-verified records, and real-time data sharing.
SlashData—a subsidiary of First.tech, part of Judan Financial Holding (IHC’s financial services arm)—is positioning itself as a key enabler of that transition. By building bridges between private insurers and government databases, the company is helping create a more connected, less bureaucratic insurance landscape.
What’s Next
As the platform rolls out across Dubai Insurance’s motor insurance operations, customers can expect faster policy issuance and fewer trips to service centers. The partnership also opens the door for Wtheeq to be adopted in other insurance verticals—such as health or property—as the government continues to push toward full digitalization by 2030.
For now, drivers in the UAE stand to benefit from a system that’s less about paperwork and more about getting back on the road.
