The Community Development Authority (CDA) has initiated a new community festival, “Hatta Unites Us,” marking its debut at the second annual #HattaWinter campaign. Launched today at Al Wadi Park, the event spotlights 35 home-based entrepreneurs and aims to bolster the local economy and cultural identity within Hatta, one of Dubai’s rapidly expanding destinations. This initiative strengthens the role of local families by providing a crucial platform for market access and enterprise growth, reinforcing Hatta’s position within the “Dubai Destinations” calendar.
Highlighting Local Enterprise and Culture
The festival, running concurrently with the broader #HattaWinter programming, is designed to enhance the profile of Hatta’s distinct heritage and evolving community. “Hatta Unites Us” showcases a diverse range of products from 35 homegrown businesses, spanning traditional foods, artisanal goods, textiles, confectionery, and perfumes. This platform honors Hatta’s deep-rooted culture of family entrepreneurship by linking local creators with a wider audience of residents and tourists seeking authentic experiences.
Beyond retail, the event offers immersive cultural experiences. Visitors can explore “Hatta Memories,” a visual narrative chronicling the region’s history; participate in hands-on traditional craft workshops; and sample community-inspired cuisine at a heritage kitchen. A cultural stage hosts performances and dialogues intended to connect audiences with Hatta’s creative and entrepreneurial scene.
The festival underscores Dubai’s commitment to inclusive community development by incorporating dedicated features for all residents. In collaboration with the Sheikha Maitha Bint Rashid Al Maktoum Centre, a specific platform supports People of Determination. Additionally, a specialized Majlis for senior citizens provides a space for intergenerational storytelling and dialogue, ensuring local voices are integral to the visitor experience.
Enabling Sustained Economic Pathways
Ali Al Qassim, Director of Benefits and Financial Empowerment at the CDA, emphasized the festival’s critical role in economic empowerment. “‘Hatta Unites Us’ represents a significant step in enabling home-based entrepreneurs to broaden their economic prospects,” Al Qassim stated. “The festival provides an authentic window into local life while creating a crucial platform for families to grow their enterprises and engage with new audiences.”
The initiative supports local businesses in transitioning from home-run operations to viable businesses within the local market, allowing them to participate more actively in Hatta’s evolving economic landscape.
The CDA is simultaneously developing a comprehensive support ecosystem for these entrepreneurs. This framework focuses on securing better market access, developing advanced skills through training, and building long-term economic resilience. This support system includes tailored developmental programs for senior citizens and People of Determination, ensuring widespread community participation and sustained economic benefit across the region.
By adding a strong community dimension to the annual #HattaWinter campaign, “Hatta Unites Us” deepens the connection between the region’s diverse residents and its unique setting. The festival reinforces Hatta’s identity as a destination where creativity, natural beauty, and heritage converge, creating new pathways for family enterprises in one of Dubai’s most picturesque winter locales.
