Dubai World Trade Centre Shatters Records with AED25 Billion Economic Boost in 2025

Dubai’s powerhouse venue cements its role as a global business magnet, driving record-breaking economic output through a jam-packed calendar of major events

The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) generated an unprecedented AED25.03 billion in economic output in 2025, propelled by 108 large-scale exhibitions, international conventions, and industry conferences that drew nearly 2.18 million attendees. The record figure—a 12% year-over-year surge—underscores DWTC’s central role in advancing the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to double the emirate’s economy by 2033. The venue’s 2025 Economic Impact Assessment revealed that these gatherings contributed AED14.66 billion in Gross Value Added to Dubai’s GDP, the highest annual economic contribution ever recorded.

A Magnet for Global Business

Nearly 947,000 international visitors—44% of total attendees—traveled to Dubai for DWTC events in 2025, reinforcing the city’s status as a premier destination for business tourism. These overseas delegates spent an average of AED9,900 per event, almost seven times more than local attendees, driven by longer stays averaging 5.6 days and expenditures on flights, hotels, dining, retail, and entertainment. For every 100 international attendees, 22 brought companions, amplifying the ripple effect across Dubai’s hospitality and tourism sectors.

“Dubai’s rise as a global hub for international events has been shaped by the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,” said Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council. “The record performance achieved by DWTC reflects the confidence that global industries, investors, and innovators place in Dubai’s world-class infrastructure and its ability to connect people, ideas, and capital.”

Jobs and Income on the Rise

The economic activity from DWTC’s 2025 events supported more than 94,000 jobs across the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) ecosystem and adjacent sectors—a 10% increase from 2024. These positions generated over AED4.7 billion in disposable household income, up 13.6% year-on-year.

“2025 was a record year for DWTC across multiple indicators, underlining both the scale and resilience of Dubai’s business events ecosystem,” said Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of DWTC Authority. “For more than 46 years, DWTC has built a strong track record of convening global industries. That consistency continues to strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading global hub for business, innovation, and international collaboration.”

Economic Ripple Effect Across Sectors

Direct spending within the MICE sector alone reached AED4.5 billion in 2025, driven by organizer and exhibitor investments in venue space, stand services, logistics, and infrastructure. But the impact extended far beyond the exhibition halls. Every AED1 spent at a DWTC event generated AED5.5 in total economic output citywide, according to the assessment.

Adjacent sectors saw a combined direct spending of AED13.48 billion, with the biggest beneficiaries including:

  • Accommodation: AED3.79 billion
  • Travel and Transport: AED2.98 billion
  • Retail Trade: AED2.55 billion
  • Restaurants and F&B: AED2.1 billion
  • Business Entertainment: AED1.81 billion
  • Government Services: AED252 million

What’s Next

DWTC is pressing ahead with a major capacity expansion at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City, designed to host even larger global events and support Dubai’s ambitions under the D33 agenda. As the venue continues to attract top-tier international conferences and trade shows, its economic contribution is expected to climb further, solidifying Dubai’s reputation as the go-to destination for global business gatherings.

For event organizers and industry professionals, the data signals a clear takeaway: Dubai’s business events sector is not just recovering—it’s thriving, offering unmatched infrastructure, connectivity, and economic returns for those who choose to meet here.
